Mind, Body, Soul – The Most Powerful Trinity‎‎

By Juliana - May 10, 2012
I feel extremely lucky to have found this studio in Monroe. I started practicing yoga to overcome running injuries but over time I have found its benefits to be so much more. Unlike the many Westernized and fitness-only focused studios around, this studio teaches well-being for the mind, body and soul. Monroe yoga is welcoming for students from all walks of life at any level and its atmosphere holds strong to yoga's true roots. Situated on a beautiful lake, the peaceful view adds to the studio's internal character. The owner/instructor, Ronen has a pure love for teaching and it is greatly transparent in every class. His teaching style is relaxed, warm and fun. I have recently decided to begin teacher training with Ronen and I am learning lessons greater than yoga postures and breathing techniques. Monroe Yoga also has monthly meditation classes and special events that help students understand themselves and their practice at a deeper level. Definitely worth a visit!

For yoga lovers or for newbies, Monroe Yoga is an amazing find! Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, individual attention and affordable classes. Ronen, the owner and main instructor, is an absolute joy and his love for the practice and care for his students can be felt in every class. As with many undertakings, people can be a little shy about starting a new practice or coming to a new studio. No worries here! The environment is completely welcoming and I have never attended a class where I didn't feel better leaving than when I arrived. And I have a grueling work schedule and am almost always completely exhausted! The combination of relaxation, breathing exercises and various postures that we take vitalize the body, promotes health, bodily strength and inner peace. A beautiful experience with some wonderful people in the studio overlooking the lake. In the summer we sometimes have class outside right by the water. What could be better? Come breathe, stretch and laugh with us!

An outstanding yoga studio - At 58 I was challenged by life, either allow negative energy to influence me or seek positive energy. While driving down Lakes Road in December of 2011 I really took notice of the small Yoga sign, went on the internet read about it, sent an email to Ronen and took a personal session to see if I liked it. At the time I thought yoga was just balance poses that might bring balance back into my life. After that one session I knew there was so much more to yoga and decided to take a monthly membership and have been going ever since. The practice of Yoga under the guidance of experienced instructors Ronen and Melissa has been a gift to me. If you are ready for a better way of living, be it mentally, physically or spiritually try a session. You will not be disappointed!

I’m not a fan of western medicine. My refusal to ingest toxic pharmaceuticals confuses my work colleagues who want to know my “secret” for not getting ill when everybody around me does! I’ve learned over the years that there is a power within each of us to heal ourselves.
Up until 2010, the last time I had taken yoga was right before I got pregnant with my daughter. Nearly two decades ago, I was a dancer: flexible, strong and in the best shape of my life. Shift ahead nearly 19 sedentary, stress-filled years in corporate America, I finally dragged myself back to the gym. The elliptical machine and the weights were re-shaping my body, but there was something missing. I didn’t feel the joy I had when dancing.
Ronen’s yoga class is the missing connection for me. Each time I arrive at the studio, my “workout” begins with relaxation exercises and laughter. Class size allows for much individual attention. No need to worry if you have no experience! Ronen doesn’t judge you or push you. He guides you. We stretch, we chant, we laugh. We position our bodies in poses that sometimes really make us laugh! Everybody in the studio feels some type of physical limitations from old injuries to the simple passing of the years. With Ronen’s loving attention to our individual development, after continued practice, “impossible” body positions become quite possible. The body strengthens, the mind quiets, and the soul is nourished. Simply stated, I feel amazing! And this beautiful feeling of well-being only adds to my overall health!
I drive ½ hour each way to take yoga here -- and with the price of gas these days, you know I love this class! For beginners or yoga aficionados, this is a great place to grow and be well! Come!

I recommend Monroe Yoga to all!‎‎

This is the first time I practice yoga and it will be part of me forever. About a year ago, I hurt my back and nothing could really be done. The doctor recommended that I take yoga. I followed his advise. I found Ronen through my massage therapist and it's certainly the best thing I did for myself. Please come and see for yourself.

Having done Yoga for the past four years I have had the opportunity to work with a total of 3 instructors, (5 if you count Yoga DVD's). Upon recommendation through a very close friend I decided to give it a try. I had nearly given up because of feeling inadequate, not getting the poses, and not being shown how to correctly learn the asanas, (Yoga Poses). Upon meeting Ronen at Monroe Yoga I was ready and willing to begin my practice again. Once you arrive at Monroe Yoga you will see a statue of Buddha in the driveway followed by a serene view of acreage and wildlife behind the studio. There is one tree in particular that resembles the Bodhi! It is said that Buddha found enlightenment under this tree, the Bodhi that is, so you see- it is symbolic for more than one reason!!! The studio itself is calming. The colors are clean and ethereal while incense burns sending out subtle aromas. The studio is encapsulated by the views of surrounding nature. Mats, pillows, and blankets are available for use and a few signature items are laid out for display. More importantly Ronen greets you individually and tunes into your specific goals with a brief screening of any past medical history and/or concerns. Ronen has the ability to enhance your own personal comfort level during your practice and does so in the most professional and intuitive way. My first class was on a Tuesday evening. Needless to say, when I woke up on Wednesday morning, I truly believed it was Sunday!!! Now that's what I call stress relief and RELAAAAAXXXXXXATION!!! Thank You Ronen!

I have attending sessions at Monroe Yoga since the beginning of January. The experience is phenomenal!! It is a way of establishing a new and healthy lifestyle, one in which you become more aware of your inner-self and how to treat your body better. The relaxation one gains from Ronen's sessions is much needed in our hectic and tense world. Also, the setting is perfect and comfortable. It is a much better experience than going to a gym where yoga is just a part of the mill. I have had a couple of medical issues in the past year and Ronen has been very understanding of them and has personalized the exercises. He is a fantastic teacher and a wonderful person to talk with. I HIGHLY recommend that everyone attend these yoga sessions with him.‎

I came for the monthly mediation gathering and really enjoyed it. It's nice to be able to stop your daily running around and to learn new ways to relax and breathe! Yes breathe… Please keep me on the mailing list for these events as I plan to attend :-)

I have never followed any workout schedule until I have found Monroe Yoga Center two years ago. But I have been there every Thursday night except when sick or out of town. Ronen the instructor can always work around my pains and aches and he is very attentive but never makes us feel inadequate. It is not easy to talk myself into going to class at night but I am always so happy I did!‎

I've been going to Monroe Yoga center on and off (work schedule permitted) for the past 2 years and Ronen is the nicest, most patient instructor I've ever met. He makes you feel relax and if you have a muscular problem he helps you tackle it. I strongly recommend it to people that are looking for a better way of living, mentally and physically.‎

This was my first class for any type of Yoga. It was excellent. Both challenging and relaxing. I look forward to returning for another class.
